Just been called by the garage now saying it’s an official recall for a software update (I’ve succeeded in having no issues post my battery change in March). Kindof strange the recall is 4 months after the problem was identified - but hey ho.

Getting this done Thursday so will let you know if it makes things worse (as genuinely had no issues since the battery was changed and a new wingmirror due to an electrical fault)

Light at the end of the tunnel for potential t7 buyers

Just booked mine in for 6 August for the update although as I regularly use the van and EHU when camping I've not really had a problem. Therefore, will be hoping it doesn't make things worse too!

That’s disappointing!
A working California now with a failed software update.

Be helpful to hear from as many T7 Multivan California owners as possible on this? Help us all judge the severity of the issue?

Had the same issue with the update. They were able to update partially but not the complete update. They made 4 attempts and have now contacted VW HQ for support..

I've had the same problems with my battery. We bought our T7 about two months ago. It's been in twice for software updates (the last one last week), and I think it's working properly now. The dealer told us that this was widespread and affecting most of the T7S they had sold.

What happened next? I had the same situation and picked up the car after 4 failed attempts. When they called me back eventually, they said the update appeared to have gone through after all.. but I have my doubts. Why would it fail and still go through?

Checking my software version under settings it is “2565”. Anyone who had a successful update, could you let me know your software versions?

Still no update from vw so unsure tbh. My vans working at current so I’m not exactly chasing it. Kindof getting boring going back and forward to the garage. Think a total of 18 trips now - just adding mileage, costs and inconvenience each time. Not the garages fault really just the utter disgraceful support they are getting from vw with any issue. Being told oh will be atleast 3 days for a reply is baffling

We have one on order, its at the dealership and they have told me that the recalls it all they have been working on, thanks to this forum it’s made us aware of the issue and at least we can check before taking.

The latest version on the PHEV should be 2650 at least the one I have received two weeks ago. Since that time I recognise no discharge of the starter battery anymore.

VW need to overhaul their software engineering capability, they really aren't good at this stuff. Let’s hope they don’t promote whomever is in charge of testing roof canvas design for water ingress.

Thanks. Mine is a diesel. Anyone with a diesel who can confirm their sw version after updating?

Thanks. Sure, it’s under “Setup” -> “Info” -> “System information”

The software is developed by Cariad, a VW company that developed the software for ALL VW Group companies, VW, Audi, Skoda, Porche and SEAT.

I have a Diesel Beach, received mid-June. Have not taken in for an update, and am on 2650.

Is this the software version for the system in it’s entirety though, or just the infotainment system? Presume the “Display unit/control panel software” is for the iphone type control unit?

I’m surprised your Navigation Database hasn’t been updated . The latest is 25.7

I don’t have the Nav with the Beach I configured. Guessing a base software version is installed as standard even though Nav is disabled, but updated if/when Nav is added.

On an unrelated note, I did notice I could buy the Nav from the shop for the price of £549, whereas if done when ordering the vehicle it’s £900. I can’t imagine there would be any functional difference between the two?

And VAG sacked the senior management and a third of all the staff of Cariad as they were having so many issues. They lag a long way behind the Japanese, Koreans and even other German marques when it comes to software. I suspect it’s rooted in cost savings after dieselgate.

Interesting. Thanks. So I guess the software version there is not related to the recall/BMS update. Because it couldn’t have been factory installed already in June, right?

It would seem that way at least, and I had an update in early May that it left the factory so it would have to have been much earlier than June.

Unless it is related and there was already a known fix and some batches of vehicles left the factory without the latest version? Not sure ![☹️](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@14.0.2/assets/72x72/2639.png "Frowning face :frowning2:")

We await our Ocean PHEV in Oct/Nov and have found this thread and the battery management one interesting.
Has anyone with an Ocean PHEV plugged in BOTH the EV charging and Mains hookup at the same time?
Curious as to the result
