I was looking at the fiamma hook kit to use on both the wind out and the awning channels on the van but they say they are for 7mm but the Thule says it's 6mm - has anyone tried them on the T7 awning or rails or have a good alternative?

From memory I think you are correct they are 6mm on the Thule and bigger on the VW awning rail, possibly 8mm.
I use a Dometic tie down kit which comes with a universal extruded aluminium clip.

I've got the Dometic tie down kit too and those universal clips work great on the T7 rails - much easier than trying to figure out the exact measurements!

Thanks both - I've had a look at the tie down kit but I'm not totally sure how it links in with the hooking of things

You are correct, it you want to hang things they won’t work.

You’ll need the 6mm for the Thule awning rails.
I cannot imagine that you’ll be hanging things from the VW awning rail but if you wanted to install an additional awning then you’ll need the 8mm and possibly a conversion bead. That’s what I had to do with the stitches and steel awning.
