Hi everyone,

First of all, I don’t have much experience with car technical data or regulations, so this is just my opinion.

I’ve been looking at the specs for the **California T7 PHEV** and comparing them with the **Multivan T7 PHEV (7-seater)**. I’m trying to understand why the **California Beach Tour** is limited to **4 seats** instead of 5. I’ve noted all the specs from the website in the table below.

Assuming an average person weighs about **75 kg**, and an additional seat adds around **25 kg**, the California Ocean PHEV is more than **100 kg heavier than the Beach**. Based on that, it seems like the Beach could support one more seat.

Is there a **business reason** for limiting the Cali Beach PHEV to 4 seats, or is there a **technical/regulatory limitation** that I’m missing?

Thanks!

I assume it is a business decision that VW UK has made not a technical based one. Here in Germany there are three versions of the Beach available (Beach, Beach Tour and Beach Camper). All are available with the plug in hybrid motor.
Beach = 6 seats and 2 sleeping spaces (no bed downstairs, no kitchen unit)
Beach Tour = 5 seats and 4 sleeping spaces (bed upstairs and downstairs, no kitchen unit)
Beach Camper = 6 seats and 4 sleeping spaces (bed upstairs and downstairs, kitchen unit)

When the time comes to potentially change our T6.1 Beach I would be interested in the plug-in Beach Tour, but I'd have to make sure it would get into our underground garage first as that is where we have our wall box.

According to your link to the Configurator the Beach Camper has 5 Not 6 seats.

Yes, sorry that's a typo from me. Beach Tour and Beach Camper both have 5 seats.

The Beach with six seats is basically a multivan with two seats of rear seats and a pop-up roof.
