Hi all,

Great to finally join the California Club, been a T6 conversion Camper for 6yrs and love owning a Campervan for family adventures.

I collected from Aberdeen and have a couple of days to enjoy the drive back to Wiltshire.

A few photos from Day 1, Scotland has some epic scenery, and got lucky with the weather.

Super Happy Cali owner

That's a long drive to collect a van! But at least you will know so much about it by the time you get home.

Great to get used to the van and check the inner workings. Was keen to check the leisure battery, and all seems well… phew!

Struggling a little with the diesel heater. Sort of comes in the continuous mode but not sure much happens unless set in the upper range 8-10. Just wanted it on all night but seems if I change the temp (e.g. 6 to 7) nothing really happens. Most consistent behaviour was setting continuous with a setting number (e.g. 8) and not changing anything. If I change it seems to stop doing anything, all via car pad. Not using any apps currently.

Also, any suggestions to lock the van but ensure no alarm set? I just used the driver lock, not the key fob assuming doors locked but nothing set. Got up this morning and alarm sounded.

Thanks,
Matt

Sorry Matt, I am unable to assist as I have a previous model but perhaps [@WelshGas](https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/members/6823/) could guide you. We don't often lock the van when we are inside but I wonder if you set up camping mode on the central control, whether that would be your answer?
I just know that drive from Aberdeen to Hampshire and it's a long way!

No worries! Is a long way but perfect for the 1st run in the California, managed to extend to trip and enjoy the Lakes also ️

Thanks, having a second night in the van really help understand the settings and behaviour. 7+ good for the quick heat, and 5/6 perfect for overnight sleeping. With everything new on the 1st evening I think moving the number temp around doesn’t work well. The 2nd night I just set it once and then didn’t touch it and then worked well.

Assuming it’s normal, but everyone else hear the clicking/knocking of the heater pump periodically?

The alarm interior monitoring is disabled from the infotainment screen, it normally pops up briefly when you turn the ignition off, so you can turn it off there or navigate to the system settings otherwise.
Good luck with the T7, we are loving ours, owned now for approaching 12 months. We did have some frustrating early adopter electrical/battery issues, but these were thankfully resolved with a software update from VW.
Cheers
Andy
